We are excited to welcome you to the 2016 Texas Trail Running Championship Series. Our points series contains 26 great races from throughout the state with a goal of increasing the fun and further connecting our trail running community both locally and throughout the country. We have overall, age group, and a club focus within ultra and sub-ultra divisions which offers many fun ways to participate in the series.

2016 is going to see some exciting new updates. These updates were based on feedback from our community and our own reflections during some long runs on the trail.

So what’s new in 2016?

First, the calendar year will be split into two series, a Spring series and Fall series where points and awards will be separate for each. With each series being about six months in length, we see it being easier to focus the mind and body as well as upping the fun and excitement. Finish three races within a particular series to be eligible for final series standings and awards. Your top four scores will count for final scoring.

Second, we overhauled our approach to calculating how your points are calculated for a race finish. Our previous approach was heavily weighted to running the longer distances within each division which greatly reduced the value of our shorter distances and the amount of points you could score. Well, that is no longer the case. We have greatly flattened the points formula so your race finish regardless of distance can and will have an impact on series standings.

Finally, there are various minor updates like adding an 18-and-under age category in the Trail (sub-50K and shorter) division which will give our youth a more appropriate age group to inspire each other.

Once again the only requirement to score points and receive awards in the series is a USATF membership which is good for the entire calendar year. One membership has you set for both the Spring and Fall series. Simply run a series race and we will calculate your points, update the current series results page, and share updates throughout the series on social media.

Be sure to check out some important pages including the 2016 race calendar showcasing both our Spring and Fall series, our series rules and new points system, our awards page, and the simple process to register for the 2016 series (and renew your USATF membership).

Let’s have some fun!
